Under Lewenberg’s leadership, Sean Grundy and the team at Bevi believe there will be tremendous growth, increased accessibility, more partnerships, and a continued dedication to making beverages more sustainable.

Bevi, the leading designer of Smart Water Coolers® for commercial spaces, announced Cathy Lewenberg as the new Chief Executive Officer of Bevi today. Lewenberg is the former CEO of Drizly, with an extensive background in the food and beverage sector.

“I’m thrilled to join Bevi at such an exciting and pivotal moment for the business,” said Cathy Lewenberg, the newly appointed CEO of Bevi in the company announcement. “The opportunity to lead a company that is not only driving innovation in hydration, but also making a meaningful impact on sustainability aligns perfectly with my passions and experience.” This change comes at an ideal time for Bevi, as they continue to scale their healthy product offerings in a sustainable way. Additionally, this gives Sean Grundy, co-founder and board member, the ability to focus on new and emerging business opportunities, beginning with an expansion internationally.

Lewenberg has a proven track record of scaling businesses through visionary strategy and operational excellence. She has over two decades in relevant industries, such as retail, technology, and health. Most recently, she led Drizley — North America’s largest alcohol e-commerce marketplace — through a high growth phase, followed by an acquisition by Uber. Her leadership as CEO at Drizley and other senior leadership roles at companies like CVS Health will position Bevi as the go-to option for health-conscious consumers.

Her immediate goals include the following: (1) accelerating growth and product innovation, (2) getting the groundwork ready for massive scaling, and (3) forming strategic partnerships to further propel Bevi’s sustainability mission.

Lewenburg adds: “I look forward to leading Bevi in its mission to eliminate single-use plastic bottles and make healthier choices easier for consumers. I’m eager to partner with this talented team to accelerate growth of this beloved brand and continue making the world a better place, one sip at a time.”

Sean Grundy, one of the original founders who helped the company from startup to a Series D, expressed his enthusiasm in the annoucement: “We’re lucky to welcome Cathy to the Bevi team,” he said. “She shares our vision to lead the beverage industry on an environmentally sustainable path, and has the experience and know-how to realize that ambitious vision.” He also mentioned her experience, drive for innovation, and proven scaling ability will be instrumental for Bevi.

Since 2013, they’ve gained more than 6,000 customers across North America, expanded product offers, grown the company, and created a solid foundation for future growth. To date, the company has saved over 500 million plastic bottles from being wasted. Bevi is also on track to achieve its goal of saving 1 billion plastic bottles by 2025.
