Gourmet Chocolate BarsForte Chocolates, based in Seattle, Wash., has recently begun producing artisan chocolates to meet the growing demand for gourmet chocolate, including 43-gram, single-serve craft chocolate bars available to vending and refreshment service operators. The company’s Volta chocolate line includes origin bars from Madagascar, Guatemala, Belize, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Dominican and Global.

The bars have a 3-year shelf life and the suggested retail price is $14.

Craft is a style of production that focuses on making chocolate directly from the bean in small artisan-sized batches, allowing for greater diversity and intensity of flavors to be created.

Forte Chocolate purchases chocolate above the Fair Trade price and never uses chocolate from West Africa. The company uses fresh, local ingredients when possible, and purchases ingredients from farmers in Skagit Valley in Washington State.

Vending and refreshment operators can purchase craft chocolate from the company’s wholesale division in cases of 12, according to Karen Neugebauer, company owner and a master chocolatier. The bars can also be ordered online.
